After an exceptional season in which Barcelona secured the domestic treble, the Catalan club’s management is now turning its attention to the summer transfer market with focus and determination.

The club’s ambition no longer stops at domestic dominance; it now extends to reclaiming European glory and achieving its ultimate goal: lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy once again.

In line with this vision, Barcelona’s new head coach, Hansi Flick, is pushing for the club to sign his former player, Ivan Perisic, whom he previously coached at Bayern Munich.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is indeed interested in acquiring the 36-year-old Croatian on a free transfer, viewing it as a strategic and cost-effective opportunity in this summer’s market.

Flick is eager to bring in Perisic, who had an outstanding season with PSV Eindhoven, helping the Dutch club win the Eredivisie. The Croatian winger scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in 35 league appearances. The report also notes that Perisic’s wages would not pose an issue for the club, as the player is enthusiastic about joining Barça and is willing to facilitate the deal. His motivation includes maintaining his place in Croatia’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by continuing to compete at the highest level.

Perisic is one of four summer signings under discussion by Barça’s sporting director Deco, alongside Espanyol goalkeeper Juan Garcia, Liverpool winger Luis Díaz (if Gerard Martin departs), and left-back Alejandro Grimaldo.

Flick holds Perisic in high regard, having won the UEFA Champions League with him in 2020. The Croatian’s professionalism, selflessness, and versatility — with the ability to play in any attacking role, including as a striker — make him a highly valued target.

It’s worth noting that Perisic originally joined Bayern Munich in August 2019 on loan from Inter Milan. Flick took over as Bayern manager in November that year, following the dismissal of Niko Kovač. Together, they led the Bavarian club to a historic treble, with Perisic contributing eight goals and ten assists across all competitions.
