Barcelona is preparing for a new season that will bring with it many technical and administrative changes, with German coach Hansi Flick continuing at the helm of the Catalan team. It is clear that the club’s management is moving towards a comprehensive restructuring of the starting lineup, particularly in key positions that contributed to internal issues last season.

According to reports circulating in the Turkish press, it appears that German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has given up the fight to remain at the Catalan club and is set to leave this summer.

The Turkish outlet Fanatik reported that Ter Stegen has agreed to join Turkish side Galatasaray and has already settled the personal terms of the expected contract between the two parties.

The 33-year-old has repeatedly stated his desire to stay at Barcelona and not leave. However, the situation at the club may have forced him to reconsider — especially after the signing of Juan Garcia from Espanyol and the decision to renew Wojciech Szczęsny’s contract. The Turkish outlet added that there is already a full agreement between the German goalkeeper and Galatasaray, with the only step remaining being an agreement between the Turkish club and Barcelona, which currently has Ter Stegen under contract until 2028.

Galatasaray is reportedly hoping to convince Barcelona to release Ter Stegen on a free transfer by terminating his contract — a move the club may accept in order to offload the remainder of the goalkeeper’s high salary.

This comes at a time when Galatasaray appears financially capable of meeting Ter Stegen’s wage demands, especially after signing his compatriot Leroy Sané from Bayern Munich at the age of 29.
