Real Madrid suffered a blow during their Champions League match against Manchester City after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was forced to leave the game at halftime due to muscle fatigue.
The Belgian goalkeeper was unable to continue, with Andriy Lunin replacing him. There is growing concern within the coaching staff about his fitness ahead of the crucial stage of the season.
Initial tests revealed a muscle injury in his right thigh. Courtois will undergo further tests upon the team’s return to Spain to determine the exact duration of his absence.
This injury brings the number of absentees in the Real Madrid squad to eight, with several key players still sidelined. This further complicates the team’s chances in the Champions League and La Liga.
The same match also saw defender Ferland Mendy suffer another injury, adding to the pressure on the team’s defense.
The coaching staff hopes to have some of the injured players back before the upcoming crucial matches, especially with the major fixtures that will determine the fate of the season approaching.
