Spanish press reports highlighted that Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has not completed his career with Barcelona and may leave before the end of the current season after his disastrous defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.
According to the Spanish newspaper “AS”, Xavi is considering apologizing for continuing his work this season with Barcelona in the event that he suffers a new loss next Sunday against Real Madrid in El Clásico.
The Spanish newspaper confirmed that Xavi is expected to apologize to Barcelona’s management for completing his mission in the event of losing to Real Madrid, because then he will ensure that the Catalan club loses the Spanish League title.
The Spanish newspaper indicated that it is certain that Barcelona will bid farewell to the current season without any titles after losing the Super Cup to Real Madrid, falling in the cup against Athletic Bilbao, and being 8 points away from the top of the Spanish League, in addition to being eliminated from the Champions League.
The Spanish newspaper explained that Barcelona President Joan Laporta will accept Xavi’s apology and will step up in his place until he signs with Mexican Rafa Marquez, Barcelona’s new coach, to play the final six rounds of the Spanish League championship.
It is noteworthy that Xavi insisted on leaving Barcelona in the press conference after the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, despite the attempts of the Barcelona administration to preserve his services and persuade him to continue in his position.
Barcelona exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals, losing by four goals to one at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the match that brought them together at Montjuïc Stadium, Barcelona’s stronghold.
Barcelona only needed a draw with any result in order to qualify for the semi-finals, to benefit from its victory in the first leg by three goals to two at the Parc des Princes Stadium, the stronghold of the Parisian club.
The exit from the Champions League for Barcelona comes three days before facing traditional rival Real Madrid in the thirty-second round of the Spanish League championship at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the royal stronghold.
