Barcelona gave its rival Real Madrid the opportunity to acquire the services of one of the prominent players during the upcoming summer transfer period.
Real Madrid is preparing to meet Barcelona in the La Liga Clasico on the 26th of this month at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the eleventh round of La Liga.
Previous press reports indicated that the two La Liga clubs are competing to sign Brazilian defender Victor Reis (18 years old), the star of Palmeiras.
According to the Catalan newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” Barcelona has already expressed its interest in signing Reis through some player agents.
For its part, Palmeiras is currently insisting on keeping its player until he participates with them in the 2025 Club World Cup at least and refuses to listen to any offers.
Reis is tied to his club by a contract until the summer of 2028, but he has a release clause worth 100 million euros.
The newspaper added that despite the special relationship between Barcelona and Palmeiras, the Catalan club now considers the Reis deal outside its priorities due to its high price, which will give Real Madrid a strong advantage in the negotiations.
It is worth noting that Victor Reis was chosen as the best defender in South America (under 21 years old) and has caught the attention of major European clubs looking to sign him.
