Inter Milan’s name continues to resonate in Barcelona’s corridors, not because of the painful encounter they faced in the Champions League semi-finals, but this time due to the summer transfer market. The Italian team, which recently won the domestic league title and qualified for the 2025 Champions League final, has once again resurfaced in the Blaugrana’s circle of interest—but from a completely different angle.
According to Mundo Deportivo, citing the Italian network Calciomercato, Inter Milan is eyeing one of Barcelona’s rising talents: Fermin López. This interest comes as part of the Italian club’s plan to find a suitable replacement for veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who, at 36, is approaching the final year of his contract, which runs until 2026.
López, 22, represents a strategic target for the Nerazzurri management, who are seeking to bolster the squad with young talent to keep pace with the club’s European and domestic aspirations in the coming seasons. Inter has not yet made an official offer, but they consider the Spanish player one of their top priorities for the upcoming transfer window.
On the other hand, Barcelona faces a difficult financial summer, restricted by Financial Fair Play regulations that force them to restructure wages and reduce expensive signings. In this context, selling some players becomes an inevitable option, especially those who are not considered key players in new coach Hansi Flick’s squad.
Although Fermín has not established himself as a regular starter, his impressive performances in some matches, particularly when he came on as a substitute, have made him a candidate for an exit. According to reports, Barcelona’s management is open to selling him if a suitable offer is made and has set an initial price of €60 million. This amount would give the club financial leverage to help meet its contractual obligations and renew the contracts of key players.
The growing interest in Fermín from a club as big as Inter reflects his improved performance and his ability to attract attention, even amid the crises Barcelona is experiencing. The question remains: Will López leave Camp Nou in search of a bigger opportunity at the Giuseppe Meazza, or will the Blaugrana hold on to their rising talent as they embark on a new rebuilding phase?
