The Catalan newspaper Sport reported that Barcelona’s young midfielder could play his final official match for the club on Sunday against Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in the final round of La Liga at San Mamés Stadium — a match with little at stake, as the Catalan side had already secured the title with their victory over Espanyol in Round 36.
Barcelona’s players are scheduled to begin a six-week summer break, while coach Hansi Flick will remain in the city to continue working with Deco and Laporta on transfer market strategies aimed at strengthening the squad ahead of the new season.
Flick is looking to reinforce several key positions, and Deco, the club’s sporting director, is actively monitoring the market for players who fit the German coach’s tactical vision and Barcelona’s playing style. However, any new signings will largely depend on the club offloading certain players to free up space in the squad.
According to the report, Pablo Torre is likely to bid farewell to the club during today’s match, as he has not been a significant part of Flick’s plans this season, and his departure appears imminent.
Torre has not featured in a match since March, and his last league start came back in September — a sign of Flick’s preference for a core midfield trio consisting of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Dani Olmo, along with consistent minutes given to Gavi, Fermín López, and Marc Casadó.
With Torre largely sidelined, Barcelona plans to sell him during the upcoming summer transfer window, provided he retains sufficient market value. An extension followed by a loan move is also being considered, while his involvement in today’s match against Bilbao remains uncertain.
