German coach Hansi Flick held his final press conference of the Spanish league season on Saturday, ahead of his team’s highly anticipated match against Athletic Bilbao in the final round of La Liga.
Barcelona secured the La Liga title with two games to spare following a crucial victory over Espanyol in Round 36, officially celebrating the championship. Under Flick’s leadership, the team also achieved a remarkable domestic cup double—winning both the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup—after fierce competition with their traditional rivals, Real Madrid.
Flick’s first season with Barcelona was a success by all standards. He guided the team to an exceptional domestic treble and reached the Champions League semi-finals, although some refereeing decisions reportedly hindered their chances of reaching the final against Inter Milan.
Flick is now working closely with sporting director Deco to outline plans for strengthening the squad during the current summer transfer window, aiming to prepare strongly for the upcoming competitions.
The attacking line is receiving particular attention from the technical staff, as the club seeks to reinforce it with experienced and highly skilled forwards to support the young duo of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. In this context, the names of Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford and Liverpool winger Luis Díaz have emerged as prominent targets.
When asked during the press conference about the possibility of signing these players, Flick said, according to the British newspaper Metro, “They are two great players. They hold a high position in my heart, and we’ll see what happens during the transfer window.”
The newspaper considered this statement a strong indication of Barcelona’s intent to bring in one or both of these players, aiming to strengthen the squad and maintain a high level of competitiveness next season.
