Many things changed after the departure of Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez from Barcelona, and one of these things was hiring a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski, the Polish player who did not admire the Spanish coach in Barcelona.
Xavi had submitted a proposal to Barcelona’s board about the possibility of finding a replacement for Robert Lewandowski this summer, RAC1 reported.
The newspaper added that Xavi, before his departure, had put the name of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak on the table in order to sign him to lead Barcelona’s attack next season.
The newspaper added that Xavi believed that Isaac could be the right man to lead Barcelona’s line and expressed his hope that he would get Lewandowski’s position as the outright striker.
But this was clearly rejected once he was sacked by the board and replaced by Hansi Flick, who did not seem keen on Isak.
The Swedish striker was one of the best strikers in the English Premier League last season and scored 25 goals in 40 matches in all competitions.
Newcastle had set the value of the player’s transfer at up to 100 million euros, an amount that is difficult for Barcelona to bear in light of this difficult crisis that the team is going through, especially on the economic level.
