Argentine legend Javier Mascherano, former Barcelona player, confirmed his great admiration for what German coach Hansi Flick is offering with Barcelona this season.
Barcelona succeeded in topping the La Liga table after 9 rounds of the competition with 24 points, 3 points ahead of their rival Real Madrid, which is in second place.
Mascherano said, in statements reported by the Catalan newspaper Sport, “Barcelona will be a strong competitor for all titles this season, and I expect Hansi Flick to succeed in leading the Catalan team back to the podiums again.”
Mascherano directed a request and advice to the German coach, stating: “I want Flick to give Barcelona’s young star Fermin Lopez the opportunity to participate in the matches,” stressing that if Fermin Lopez gets the full opportunity, he will surpass De Jong and Dani Olmo.
He added: “The young player is talented and has a great ability to play in all midfield and attacking positions, and this is what distinguishes him from other Barcelona midfielders.”
Mascherano added that Lopez will be the dark horse in Barcelona’s squad this season. If Flick allows him to play more, it will definitely be a winning bet and will help Barcelona’s season succeed, in addition to adding great depth and diversity to the German coach’s options.
