After Real Madrid’s dominant 4-1 victory over Las Palmas and their two-point lead over Atletico Madrid and seven-point advantage over Barcelona in third place, coach Carlo Ancelotti dropped an unexpected surprise.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper “Defensa Central”, Ancelotti publicly apologized to two of his players, Lucas Vazquez and Aurelien Tchouameni, after they were asked to play out of their natural positions this season.
Ancelotti, who had placed Vazquez at right-back and Tchouameni in the defense instead of his usual role as an attacking midfielder, realized that his decisions had exposed the duo to heavy criticism from fans.
The Italian coach took responsibility for these choices, admitting, “It was not your mistake, but mine, and I am responsible.” He expressed that he understood the unfair treatment both players faced due to these tactical decisions, which impacted their performances.
Despite the criticism they endured, both Vazquez and Tchouameni forgave their coach, emphasizing that this is part of football and reaffirming their commitment to continue working professionally for the good of the team.
