Massimiliano Allegri, the new AC Milan coach: He wants a prominent star from Barcelona to be the cornerstone of his new project with the Rossoneri.

AC Milan has entered a new phase following the official announcement of coach Sergio Conceição’s departure. A decision has been made regarding who will lead the next project: Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian coach is considered the most prominent candidate to take over the Rossoneri, and he has already begun outlining a competitive squad aimed at achieving domestic and European success.

According to several Italian media reports, one of Allegri’s first requests to Milan’s sporting management was to sign a top-class center-back. Ronald Araujo, the Barcelona star and the Catalan club’s defensive mainstay, stands out as the most prominent name the coach is interested in.

Allegri sees Araujo as the ideal defender due to his physical strength, leadership on the field, and positional ability to adapt to the demands of modern defensive play. The Uruguayan is one of the best defenders in Europe and has attracted interest from several major clubs recently, including Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

However, Barcelona’s position has been clear: Araujo is not for sale. The team’s new coach, Hansi Flick, has emphasized the player’s importance to his sporting project, considering him an indispensable asset given his leadership and commitment on and off the field.

At the same time, Barcelona’s management believes that selling Araujo would only happen if an offer exceeding €60 million is received—a sum that seems unaffordable for Milan given the club’s current financial situation and the salary cap imposed by Serie A.

For his part, Araujo, whose contract with Barcelona runs until 2031, maintains his desire to remain at Camp Nou and has repeatedly expressed his intention to stay and compete for titles, despite some rumors surrounding his future following the departure of coach Xavi Hernandez.

Allegri’s arrival at Milan could represent a shift in the club’s transfer policy, but regarding Araujo, it seems unlikely in the current market, as Barcelona refuses to enter negotiations over one of its defensive pillars. Milan’s management must consider realistic alternatives to meet the new coach’s demands.
