As part of its ongoing quest to regain its place among the giants of European football, Barcelona is making ambitious plans to strengthen its squad in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Catalan club, long a symbol of domestic and international success, aims to make a strong return to European glory after a period of absence from winning the Champions League.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, if Héctor Fort thought his strong friendship with Lamine Yamal would guarantee him a stay at Barcelona, he was mistaken. Coach Hansi Flick has already begun implementing his plan to restructure the team and has informed the management of the need to let go of players who do not meet his technical standards. Fort was one of the first names on the list of departures.
Although the young defender performed well when he did participate, he failed to convince Flick, who preferred to play other players at right-back, such as Eric García and Ronald Araujo, relying heavily on Jules Koundé in that position.
The German coach chose to be frank with the Spanish Under-19 international, informing him of the need to find a new club for next season. The proposed plan is for him to leave Camp Nou on loan to a club that will guarantee regular playing time, whether in the Spanish Primera División or even outside of Spain.
The board, represented by Joan Laporta and Deco, supported this decision, even though Fort had already impressed with his positive performances during the Xavi Hernández era, making several appearances and leaving a good impression.
Despite Lamine Yamal’s attempts to convince the board to reevaluate the position of his close teammate, whom he has known since the youth teams, the final decision has been made. Flick believes Fort currently lacks the level required to be a starter and sees no point in returning him to the reserve team, especially after the club’s relegation to the second division.
Thus, Héctor Fort’s future lies outside Barcelona for the time being. Despite the player’s determination to stay, his exit is almost certain. Yamal will lose one of his closest friends on the team, but the club believes this temporary departure is best for Fort’s career, hoping he will return later more mature and ready.
