After an exceptional season in which Barcelona won the domestic treble, the Catalan club’s management is turning its attention to the summer transfer market with determination and seriousness.
The team’s ambition is no longer limited to domestic dominance but extends to regaining European glory and achieving the ultimate dream: lifting the Champions League trophy once again.
Press reports indicate that the transfer of Espanyol goalkeeper Juan Garcia to Barcelona is close to being finalized during the current summer transfer window.
The Catalan club intends to strengthen its goalkeeping squad with the young goalkeeper in preparation for the 2025-26 season.
The Spanish newspaper Sport reported that Garcia will sign his contract with the Catalan club next Wednesday, with the release clause being paid simultaneously.
A sum of €25 million will be paid for the goalkeeper’s services, which is the release clause of his contract with Espanyol.
For his part, Espanyol CEO Mao Yiwu confirmed that the club will not enter into any negotiations with Barcelona regarding the sale of Garcia, and that paying the release clause is the only way to complete the deal. The newspaper noted that one of Juan’s conditions before officially signing was to secure a starting spot, and that he would not be content with playing as a substitute—a fact confirmed by Flick.
