Hansi Flick makes his decision and chooses the team’s new striker, with the official joining date now set.

After an exceptional season in which Barcelona won the domestic treble, the Catalan club’s management is turning its attention to the summer transfer market with determination and focus.
The team’s ambitions now go beyond domestic dominance, extending toward reclaiming European glory and achieving its ultimate dream: lifting the Champions League trophy once again.

Barcelona has identified a new striker to eventually replace current Polish forward Robert Lewandowski and to reinforce the attacking line with a high-quality talent.
Lewandowski excelled last season, scoring 42 goals and playing a key role in the team’s domestic treble of the league, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. However, Barça is considering a long-term successor.

The Catalan club is planning for the future by targeting a younger striker, especially given that the Polish veteran is now 36 years old.
According to Cadena SER radio, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has placed Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, who currently plays for Atlético Madrid, at the top of his wishlist for the upcoming transfer window.

Barça will not be able to sign Álvarez this summer but intends to begin the 2026–27 season with its current striker, Lewandowski, before bringing in the Argentine forward after that campaign.
The Catalan club will face a significant financial challenge with Álvarez’s contract, as his release clause is set at €500 million, and Atlético Madrid paid €75 million to sign him from Manchester City last summer.
